New Mosque 2 blocks from Ground Zero?

Construction is about to begin on a 100 million dollar mosque & "cultural center" in New York City...two blocks away from Ground Zero.

The Muslim leader of the effort, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, claims their goal is to, "achieve a tipping point in Muslim-West relations within the next decade, bringing back the atmosphere of interfaith tolerance and respect that we have longed for since Muslims, Christians and Jews lived together in harmony and prosperity eight hundred years ago".

Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer said in a statement that by supporting the multi-faith community and cultural center, the board "sent a clear message that our city is one that promotes diversity and tolerance."  The Board recently voted 29-1 in favor of the plan.

Tea party activist Mark Williams has called the proposed center a monument to the terror attacks.

What do YOU think of this proposal?  Is it a step in the right direction...or does it simply dishonor the memory of those who were murdered at Ground Zero on Sept. 11, 2001?  Chime in on the blog here and then tune in tomorrow at high noon eastern (station listing/listen online here) for what will surely be a lively discussion.  My special guest is Bill Federer, author of What Every American Needs to Know About the Qur'an.
