C2ActionGram Showdown @ Wake Co. School Board Meeting Tomorrow? Friends, Tomorrow's meeting of the Wake Co. School Board could get rather ugly (see the N&O article here). Charges of "racism", "segregationist" and "Jim Crow" will most likely be hurled at the five members of the School Board who are moving the neighborhood schools issue forward. C2A understands how difficult this issue is to deal with, but that doesn't give any of us a right to turn it into a slew of unfounded, hateful personal attacks. What can we do about it? Number One...we must pray. The meeting tomorrow could easily get out of hand. Nearly 100 police officers have been put on standby just in case it does. As God's Children we must pray for a peaceful gathering tomorrow. We must pray that the people rallying for & against the neighborhood schools initiative will remain calm. We must pray for wisdom for Ron Margiotta, the Chairman of the School Board, who will be directing the meeting. We must pray for the other School Board members as well. Additionally, we must pray for Rev. Barber, the President of the state chapter of the NAACP. Pray that he will keep the crowd he has gathered under control and that his threats of civil disobedience will not come to fruition. Number Two...attend the meeting if you can. It will be a packed house but if you are a strong supporter of the neighborhood school's initiative you should be there to make that point. The meeting starts at 2pm, 3600 Wake Forest Road. Number Three...Sign the "Petition of Appreciation". This is a simple document that is meant to show the Board your appreciation for their dedication and hard work. If you agree with the neighborhood schools initiative, you should sign your name. This issue has gone beyond the bounds of Wake County so it's OK if you don't live here...you can still voice your support. You can sign the online petition here. In His Service & Yours, Steve Noble
